Chelsea Berry, DC

Bio: I am a board certified Doctor of Chiropractic in Washington State, formerly from Vancouver, BC where I was born and raised. I worked for nine years at Vancouver’s top multidisciplinary clinic alongside with other wellness practitioners across the healthcare spectrum. I graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, Ontario with clinical honours in 2014. I also obtained a mini-MBA in Clinical Entrepreneurship from the Schulich School of Business in 2021. I have additional training in soft tissue techniques to include Active Release Technique, Webster Technique for perinatal care and Complete Concussion Management.  My path to being a doctor was far from linear. Prior to becoming a doctor, I worked as an expedition kayak guide, yoga teacher, caterer and shoe museum docent among other things.

I offer a calm, friendly and plain language approach to helping you. I want to include your goals and preferences in co-creating your treatment plan. No “cracking” requests are A-Okay in my office.

CHIROPRACTIC FAQs:

Chiropractic care is gentle, low risk, drug free and non-invasive. Extensive research has proven that chiropractic treatment is a safe approach to help relieve neck pain, back pain, headaches and other issues with the musculoskeletal system. However, all therapies carry risk, even taking over the counter medications. Most people experience immediate relief after an adjustment. Rarely, patients experience muscle stiffness, minor bruising, temporary dizziness, numbness or tingling. These adverse effects generally do not last long.

Not all treatments involve “cracking.” Your safety and comfort are my top priorities. Before commencing treatment, you will have the opportunity to ask questions, understand risks and contribute your preferences in developing a plan of care that works for you. I will not do anything that you don’t like treatment wise. I will always check with you to get your consent before treating any area of your body. I will communicate what I am doing before I do it.

Most joints in the body are surrounded by a capsule, which is a sleeve of connective tissue. This capsule contains a liquid called synovial fluid, which lubricates your joints. During an adjustment the fluid filled, enclosed joint space undergoes a quick change in pressure. This change in pressure allows for tiny gas bubbles in the synovial fluid to be released producing an audible sound. It is similar to when you open a can of pop. The sound is harmless. It is also important to note that in order for an adjustment to be effective the popping sound does not need to be heard.

Chiropractors are doctors with a specialty in diagnosing neuro-musculoskeletal issues. In Canada, where I studied, chiropractors undergo a minimum of seven years of post-secondary education with the last four years being specific to chiropractic training at an institution approved by the Council on Chiropractic Education Canada. The official title for a chiropractor is a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC). I am licensed in the State of WA. My undergraduate degree was in Art History and Anthropology.
